What do AER and Gross mean?
We get asked this a lot! Gross is the interest we'll pay before deducting any taxes or charges. AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate, which is the total interest your investment could earn over a year. The AER is also an easy way to compare our FTI with other savings products.

If you have a balance of £500 or more in your Share Account, you can transfer it to an FTI to earn a higher rate of interest. Just remmeber to keep £1 in your Share Account so it stays open for you.
What happens at the end of the investment term?
When your investment matures, you have several choices:
-
Transfer the money to your bank account.
-
Transfer the money to your Share Account
-
Reinvest some or all of the money in a new Fixed Term Investment
You don't need to decide anything now. We'll write to your at the end of your investment term and ask what you want to do.
How do I qualify for a Fixed Term Investment?
When you apply to open a Fixed Term Investment, we'll ask our partner, Smart Search Limited, to perform anti-money laundering checks. This process leaves a 'soft footprint' on your credit file. It's used solely for audit purposes and is distinct from a full credit check. Please be assured it won't impact your credit score. If the check results are unclear or if we need more information, our investments team will contact you. Otherwise, you can expect a letter enclosing your Share Captial Certificate with your investment number. Your letter should arrive within one to three weeks of your application.
