The Midcounties Co-operative To Open New Local Store in Wantage With Golden Ticket Prizes for the First 50 Shoppers

The Midcounties Co-operative will be opening a brand-new local Co-op store at 9am on Thursday 13th March in Wantage, Oxfordshire.
The new 2,825 square foot store will be located at 21 Daisy Lane Kingsgrove Estate, a new settlement that rests on the edge of the market town of Wantage. Once complete, the estate will have 1,500 homes, with the new local Co-op store supplying groceries for residents and those in the local area.
To mark the grand opening, the first 50 customers through the doors will receive a Golden Ticket, with every ticket guaranteeing a prize. Lucky customers could win anything from a luxury hamper to £100 to spend in-store.
The store will be opened at a ribbing cutting ceremony conducted by Hannah Robinson, Principal of nearby Wantage Academy, alongside ten pupils from the school.
The new convenience store will be open from 7am to 10pm each day and will offer essential grocery items, from fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and flowers to wines, spirits and chilled beer. It will also have an in-store bakery and Costa Express machine, as well as hosting a range of award-winning COOK frozen ready meals and a selection of hot food to go.
To celebrate the opening weekend, on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th March, shoppers can enjoy complimentary tastings of the best-selling COOK range, alongside a variety of award-winning Fairtrade wines and cheeses, plus lots more.
For the first 10 days, all The Midcounties Co-operative members will also receive a 10% discount every time they shop at the Kingsgrove store, valid until Sunday 23rd March.
Customers at the new store can become members to enjoy exclusive offers across The Midcounties Co-operative's family of services. Membership also means giving back to the community with every purchase - whether it’s a pint of milk or a holiday booking, we’re doing good together.
The Midcounties Co-operative recently launched its new Doing Good Together Fund which allows members to apply for grants to give a helping hand to local causes that matter to them. The Doing Good Together Fund has been created in response to the Society’s members, which total more than 700,000 people, who said that they wanted to be able to give back more to their local communities.
Using a greater share of the Society’s profits towards benefiting the local community, the fund will provide small grants to support important local good causes, including those in the Kingsgrove area – from dinner and dance sessions for those with dementia to plants for parks, from biscuits for book clubs to kits for cricket teams, and much more.
In Autumn, The Midcounties Co-operative will also be opening a brand-new Little Pioneers nursery and pre-school in Kingsgrove Estate, three doors down from the new food store. The nursery will have three separate rooms with a tailored environment for each age group to support their learning and development, while ensuring they have fun at the same time. It will also have on-site parking, a large garden for outdoor play, and a designated parents’ room.
The Little Pioneers nursery team will be at the opening of the new Kingsgrove Co-op food store, bringing along their mascot to host exciting giveaways and answer any questions the local community may have about the new nursery and pre-school.
Natalie Broyd, Store Manager at the new local Co-op store in Kingsgrove, said: “We can’t wait to open our doors to the Kingsgrove Estate community in March. The opening day will feature an array of fantastic activities, including 50 amazing prizes up for grabs and the opportunity to sample some of our best-selling products throughout the weekend.
We’re proud to be investing in the local area and supporting the local community with convenience, exceptional quality, and a wide range of Fairtrade products. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new store - and best of luck to the first 50 visitors who will receive a Golden Ticket!”
