How We’re Supporting Our Local Communities
Ever since the UK went into lockdown, we’ve seen some amazing examples of co-operation with people up and down the country coming together to help support their local communities in any way they can. At Co-op Midcounties, we’re no different and want to do all we can in these challenging times.
Community Restart Fund
We've launched our Community Restart Fund to support Co-op Midcounties' existing charity fundraising partner organisations across our trading areas who have seen their essential support and services impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Food bank fund
We have launched our Food Bank Fund to support our 40 food bank partner organisations across our trading areas. Having listened to feedback from a number of our foodbank partner organisations, and gained insight from across the broader co-operative movement, we have been made aware that in light of the coronavirus outbreak a number of food banks are facing reduced funds and reduced access to products to support their beneficiaries at this time.
Many thanks to you all that have donated, we have now reached our target, with over £40,000 donated to our fund in total. Therefore, we are no longer taking donations for this fund.
Foodbank Partner Organisations
Through this fund our Food Bank partners will be able to apply for funds that they can use as in-store credit across selected Co-op Midcounties Food Stores, for use to purchase products directly from a selected Food Store. Food Bank groups will be partnered with a specific Co-op Midcounties Food Store to carry this out. A 10% discount on our retail prices will be applied when the Food Bank group use their credit.
The fund is open for applications until the 29th May.

Home delivery service
We've launched a home delivery service across our Food stores to support and deliver essential goods to the most vulnerable members of our communities!
Reaching 35,000 Home Deliveries!
We have now reached an incredible 40,000 home deliveries to our impacted communities.
Working with local volunteering groups, our teams have made 40,000 home deliveries of essential food supplies to some of the most vulnerable in the community throughout the Covid-19 outbreak.
Since launching the home-delivery service from scratch earlier this month, the Society has partnered with a hundred volunteering groups and six hundred volunteers to deliver essential food supplies to local community members who are known to be vulnerable and in self-isolation. As well as gathering the details of vulnerable people living local to our Food stores that need help with their shopping deliveries, we have proactively contacted more than 52,000 Midcounties members to offer their support.

Supporting Key Workers – Little Pioneers
At Co-op Midcounties we know that little things can make a big difference, so we set up our Frontline Hero Support Fund, to raise money to assist our local communities during the pandemic.
We are incredibly grateful for the work that NHS staff and all critical key workers are doing, but without childcare, many would be unable to perform their essential duties. That’s why we decided to use the fund to subsidise nursery fees for key workers, helping them keep working and saying a big thank you from us!
The Grand Total
We are delighted to announce that the fund has received £40,000 in donations in just three weeks. This includes a launch amount of £25,000 from Co-op Midcounties, 99 donations from Co-op family and friend, totalling £11,000, and a further £4,000 in 200 donations from the general public. Thank you to everyone for your generosity, your contribution is going to make a real difference to key worker families.
Helping Those Who Are Helping Us
At Co-op Childcare, we want to do our bit in the fight against coronavirus. We know that little things can make a big difference, so we set up our Frontline Hero Support Fund, to raise money to assist our local communities during the pandemic.
