Changes in Our Stores
Since the UK went into lockdown a lot has changed, and we’re no different. We’ve introduced a number of measures in our stores to keep our customers and colleagues safe, including social distancing and PPE. Find out more about what we’re doing below...
Store Opening Hours & Priority Shopping
Store Opening Hours:
Most of our stores are open from 7am – 8pm from Monday – Sunday. Please check opening times for your local Co-operative store on our store finder by clicking here.
By reducing our opening hours, we are able to carry out important tasks such restocking shelves and cleaning, so that we can maintain the best customer shopping experience possible under the current circumstances.
Some of our Post Offices are currently operating reduced opening hours. Please click here for opening hours.
Priority Shopping for NHS Staff and Carers:
We have introduced a ‘Priority Shopping Hour’ for NHS staff and carers for the elderly and the vulnerable across all our stores, from 9.30am – 10.30am Monday to Friday.
In addition, as of Sunday 5th April our larger stores open from 9.30am – 10am on Sundays for browsing (checkouts will be open from 10am).
Whilst we appreciate that we all have a need to shop at particular times, we would be grateful if you could help us preserve this period for NHS staff and carers to complete their shopping.
Following the government's advice on social distancing, to keep our customers and colleagues safe, we have introduced a number of so social distancing measures across our food stores:
- We have posters and point of sale material on display in all of our stores to provide our customers and colleagues with guidance on social distancing while shopping:
If you have ANY of these symptoms,
please do not enter the store.

Personal Protective Equipment
While social distancing is seen as one of the most important measures we all must take to stop the spread of the coronavirus, supplying personal protective equipment (PPE) to our colleagues is vital to keep us all safe!
We are doing everything we can to ensure we continue to have appropriate supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for colleagues who need them. We have many supplies that have now been delivered to sites, with more stock of gloves and facemasks arriving daily.
We have also been installing permanent customer hand sanitiser stations, which will be regularly replenished.
All of our customer-facing sites have now had protective screens installed to provide additional protection.
