Meet Vicky Green

In November 2015, Midcounties gave the Codsall Cricket Club, which Vicky Green chairs, a £1,000 Community Grant to buy some new nets. And that could have been the end of the story.
‘We were very grateful for the nets,’ explains Vicky. ‘So I could simply have shopped more at my local Midcounties store. But I wanted other local good causes to benefit as well.’
Vicky grew up in Wolverhampton and had a tough childhood. She lost both her parents at an early age and decided that academic life wasn’t for her. But, thanks to her dad, she never lacked ambition. Instead of going on to higher education she joined a training scheme with her local authority, rose rapidly through the ranks and has never looked back.
When offered the chance to stand for the Membership Strategy Committee (MSC), Vicky jumped at the opportunity and was elected in 2016. ‘I chose the MSC because I’m really passionate about my local community and, as
a result, I’ve seen many more local good causes benefit from Midcounties grants,’ she says.
Would you like to stand for the Membership Strategy Committee?
The MSC is responsible for the strategic direction of member engagement and community support, so has an exciting role to play at the heart of the Society. Its influence ranges from representing members from the grass roots and working closely with local member groups right through to decisions made in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
The committee works to develop forward-thinking and interactive ideas on membership strategy, including promoting membership benefits and developing member engagement opportunities.
The committee of 12 is made up of ten members elected from the Society’s membership and two members appointed by the Board. There are usually four meetings a year and members serve for three years. Elections are held every autumn. To be eligible to stand, you must have been a member of the Society for at least six months and spent at least £200 with the Society the previous year.
