Have you ever considered volunteering?
Many community organisations in and around Chipping Norton rely on the support of volunteers to improve the lives of local people. And there are many benefits for volunteers too.
Join this in-person event to hear from four inspiring guest speakers, including Oxford Community and Voluntary Action Group, which matches residents with volunteering opportunities.
The event will give you the chance to:
Discuss volunteering with our speakers
Hear about volunteering from a young person’s perspective
Discover how foodbank volunteers help families in need
CEO of Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action
Laura is CEO of Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA). She enjoys volunteering in a number of roles and passionately believes that she benefits from volunteering just as much as the people or organisations that she has volunteered with. OCVA provides training, advice and support to not-for-profit groups across Oxfordshire. OCVA also hosts Oxfordshire Volunteers, which matches thousands of residents with a wide range of volunteer opportunities.
The Young Co-operators Network (YCN) Co-ordinator
Ayesha Di’Angelo is the Young Co-operators Network Co-ordinator for the Midcounties Co-operative. She works with members between the ages 16 and 30, giving young people the chance to influence how we do things at Your Co-op, as well as offering exclusive offers, tailored events, career guidance, activities and competitions.
Community Funding Placement
Conor has been working in The Midcounties Co-operative’s community department for the last 12 months, working on projects including the redesign of our grant scheme and producing videos with our charity partners. He says, “During my time at the University of Birmingham I started volunteering for the food bank Let’s Feed Brum, which I now run one day a week. It has given me many of the life lessons and experiences necessary to deliver effective change for communities in my role.”
Organiser & Trustee North Oxfordshire Community Foodbank
The North Oxfordshire Community Foodbank was formed over 13 years ago by those concerned about those in need of food support. The foodbank aims to provide emergency support in a crisis and to enable people to get back on their feet and support themselves. It has developed a network for provision in the local area with a storage base in Kidlington. Melvina says, “We could not run the foodbank without the support of our wonderful volunteers."
