Over £35,000 has been distributed across 30 local groups in Gloucestershire through our community grants.
Colleagues contributed over 410 volunteering hours in Stroud.
Worked with The Shrubberies School, Rednock School, Severn Vale School, Churchdown School, and Maidenhill School to help develop young people.
Our local 2016 charity was Longfields Hospice.

Longfield is a local charity based in Gloucestershire providing specialist palliative care 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They offer a wide range of services which provide care for people living with or affected by a life limiting illness. Their services support patients, families and carers from the point of diagnosis onwards. This includes day therapy, counselling, education and a range of outpatient services. Care at end of life is provided by their Hospice at Home service and continues after death through our bereavement support programme.
Local colleagues completed a Charity bike ride and raised over £11,000 for Longfield Hospice. “The money generated will help us pay for new materials, as well as support the running costs of the Hospice.” Julia Mundell – Longfield Hospice.

Gloucestershire Young Carers takes two approaches to supporting young carers:
•Providing direct services in partnership with a raft of other organisations
•Working with young carers to support professionals and commissioners to improve their response to young carers
Gloucestershire Young Carers runs young carer led training and workshops on a range of issues related to young carers and their families. It also provides advice and support to enable best practice in schools, mental health teams, social care teams, targeted support teams, hospitals and other agencies who work with children and families.

Young Carers - Gloucestershire Young Carers (Cam & Dursley)
The Charity Head Office is based on the outskirts of Gloucester but runs local groups in the Cam and Dursley area for children between the ages of 8 and 16 in order to provide respite from their caring role.
Tackling Loneliness - Gloucestershire Mini Bus Scheme (Stroud)
The Gloucestershire Minibus Scheme (GMS) is a minibus brokerage inititative designed to meet the needs of the community organisation such as; Charity Groups, clubs and societies, voluntary organisations, colleges along with any groups operating on a not for profit basis.
Volunteering and Fundraising Events
Our colleagues have taken part in charity car wash days to raise funds and awareness of our Charity Partner.
We have donated reconditioned laptops and computer equipment to Gloucester Young Carers to replace old and out of date equipment.
Colleagues have dressed as superheroes for the day in order to raise awareness and funds for the Young Carers - as they are the real heroes.
Libbie Gardner from Caincross Childcare completed the Westonbirt 10K in 1:17:09 and raised a fantastic £275 for Gloucester Young Carers.
Colleagues have taken part in a Charity 5-a-side football tournament.
Nailsworth Food Store held a knitted teddy bears event for 'Give at the Till' weekend and raised over £200 for Gloucestershire Young Carers.
A colleague from our Wotton Under Ede branch organised a Charity football match vs a local company (Renishaw) from which over £300 was raised and donated to GYC.
Our members and customers recently took part in a survey to tell us which local groups they would like to see us donate our half yearly carrier bag funds to. We received in excess of 380 votes and have been notified of 19 new groups or opportunities in which we can help our community.
Our customers have helped us raise over £4,000 towards the Gloucestershire Fun Day of which GYC is a beneficiary.
Wotton Under Edge store donated carrier bag funds to Bournestream where, Mark Pascoe, who looks after Bournestream, had always wanted to find a way to make people that visit the site understand the vision that the founder of Bournestream had. These Boards fully allow people to see the journey she took into creating the play area that so many children and parents can use.
