Over £35,000 has been distributed across 30 local groups in Gloucestershire in 2016, including supporting Forest of Dean dial a ride.
Colleagues contributed over 920 volunteering hours in the Forest of Dean.
Working in partnership with Gloucestershire Young Carers, supporting young people with carer responsibilities through advice and services.
Members, colleagues and customers in the Forest of Dean have donated over 4,000 products to local foodbanks in 2016.

Gloucestershire Young Carers takes two approaches to supporting young carers:
•Providing direct services in partnership with a raft of other organisations
•Working with young carers to support professionals and commissioners to improve their response to young carers
Gloucestershire Young Carers runs young carer led training and workshops on a range of issues related to young carers and their families. It also provides advice and support to enable best practice in schools, mental health teams, social care teams, targeted support teams, hospitals and other agencies who work with children and families.
Our 2016 local charity partner in this area was Forest of Dean Children’s Opportunity Centre.

The Centre provides an informal meeting place for parents and those professionals involved in the care of the children who have diverse and complex special needs. The scale of these needs range from severe to profound disabilities such as visual impairment, hearing impairment, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, Autism, multiple disabilities, Spina Bifida, speech & language delay, behaviour problems, learning disabilities and many more, including those children who do not have a diagnosis.
The Centre offers a nucleus, providing numerous services for both children and their parent/carers aimed at supporting the core of family life. These services include home visiting, holiday activities play-scheme, family support, early counselling, advice and guidance, toy and book library, parent support groups, nurture group, specialist therapy sessions, conductive education and early behaviour intervention therapy.

Newent Dial a Ride
The primary purposes of the charity objectives are to deliver personal and social care through the services at Sheppard House Day Centre and provide a community transport service throughout the North Forest area.
The service is based in Newent, Forest of Dean.
They also run a charity shop which raises money for the service based in Newent.
Lydney Dial a Ride
Lydney Dial a Ride provide community transport for Lydney, Coleford, Cinderford and surrounding villages throughout the Forest of Dean. They help those who struggle to access transport who struggle and provide them with the opportunity to get out and about.
The service is based in Lydney, Forest of Dean.
They also run charity shops which raise money for the service based in Lydney and Cinderford.
Groups and Schools
Forest High School, Cinderford
We have been working with the school on careers events and supporting fundraising actitivities. We are now working with the Headmaster to hopefully get the school on next year's Green Pioneer event. The Headmaster, Paul Holroyd, attended the Green Pioneers conference held this month.
Alan Cratchley, Store Manager of Valley Road in Cinderford, is currently going through the interview process to joint the school governors.
Pauntley School, Newent
Supported fundraising events with volunteers and goods. Working with the 'Friends of Pauntley School' to help them raise funds for the school. Tony Phelps, Store Manager of Newent, has completed Fairtrade talks in the school and ran Easter Egg hunts.
A Fairtrade football presentation was held in store.
Volunteering and Fundraising
Helped to organise, run and support the Gloucestershire Fun Day 2017 raising over £13,000 for our Charity Partner.
Supported the Aspirations Evening at Forest High School with each trading group providing careers advise interacting with over 100 young people.
Launched our support for Gloucestershire Young Carers with a Super Hero themed weekend across all trading sites raising over £2.5k with GYC following suit with a Super Hero themed Twitter campaign.
Fairtrade talks across 5 schools in the Forest of Dean over Fairtrade Fortnight interacting with over 500 young people.
Chris Chandler, Ambassador, is now sitting on the Fundraising Committee for Gloucestershire Young Carers.
Started the rollout of Dementia Awareness training across the Forest of Dean sites, signed up and pledged our support to the Dementia Action Alliance.
Steve Vaughan, Store Manager of Lydney Food, supported Lydney Dial a Ride with advice on their charity shop.
Working with Newent Dial a Ride to introduce a new route in Newent and the surrounding areas using carrier bag money to fund the marketing and initial launch, and organising support of the customers when they reach their destinations at the Newent food store.
Working with the GYC Forest Carers Group to provide a budget for their weekly meeting where the young carers can come and choose the ingredients from the local Valley Road food store.
Colleagues supported the GYC Business Networking Event giving career advice on Food and Childcare.
5 students were given the opportunity to undertake work experience in our Cinderford and Valley Road food stores with our link to Forest High School.
We have used carrier bag funding to arrange visits and transport for Young Carers to Skillzone, Gloucestershire's Safety Education Centre, which focuses on the consequences of shoplifting and trying to purchase age-restricted items such as cigarettes and alcohol. By working closely with Skillzone, and also helping them, we've helped negotiate better terms for Young Carers.
