Retail Apprenticeship Programme

At The Midcounties Co-operative we recognise that investing in people brings benefits to everyone. For individuals who are keen to forge a career in food retail we are delighted to announce and invite applications for our:

Apprenticeships in Food Retail

Our Retail Apprenticeship is a chance for colleagues to gain a nationally recognised qualification awarded by Education Development International (EDI)

The programme starts in September 2010 and lasts 2 years.

What you'll learn

The apprenticeship is made up of three parts that will lead to the following qualifications:

  • NVQ level 2 in Retail
  • Key skills certificates in Literacy, Numeracy, and IT
  • A nationally accredited retail technical certificate

In addition we will offer our Apprentice's the opportunity to complete:

  • A Foundation Food Hygiene Certificate
  • A number of our internally offered management and personal skills development courses

What you'll need

To qualify for the programme, you must:

You must not:

  • Be in full-time education
  • Be planning to return to full-time education within the next two years.

Selection

After an initial key skills assessment, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an assessment centre. Successful candidates at this stage will be invited to an assessed work experience day at one of our stores as the final part of the selection process.

Assessment centres will be held week commencing the 26th June and the 2nd August, with work experience days held between the 9th and 27th August 2010.

The programme commences 20th September 2010.
