Board of Directors
The Society is governed by a Board of 16 directors elected by and from the Society's members - a fundamental principle of any co-operative enterprise. 10 directors are elected by and from members of the OSG Region and 6 directors are elected by and from members of the WM Region. Terms of office are for 3 years.

Presently, there is a casual vacancy on the Board following the resignation of Jim Postles in January 2010. This vacancy will be filled at the next directors election to be held in the autumn of 2010.
The Board has certain key responsibilities. Two stand out in particular: first, and as you would expect, the Board sets the Society's objectives and strategy; second, the Board seeks to ensure that the Society operates and adheres to co-operative values and principles.
To help deliver these imperatives and its other responsibilities the Board has:
- a set of Guiding Principles which provide the framework and expectations for the way directors interact with one another and with others with whom they have business, and
- a formal schedule of matters reserved for its decision as the Society's rules prescribe that certain duties and responsibilities can only be decided by the Board.
The Board has also delegated certain of its other responsibilities to various Board committees, details of which can be found elsewhere in these governance pages.
