Members' Climate Change Pledges 2007 

Below is a summary of the excellent member pledges that were captured at the Members' Conference.

-         Switch to low energy light bulbs

-         Walk instead of drive whenever possible

-         Buy local produce from local shops / grow my own vegetables

-         Invest in wind turbine projects

-         Hold a lush and light bulb party

-         Encourage the parish council and county council to do more

-         Spread the idea of 'do more with less' to my Christmas card/letter list

-         Take my natural cotton bags with me on shopping expeditions

-         Turn off standby switches / monitor my electricity usage

-         Take opportunities offered to learn more about climate change

-         Recycle more / use less of everything

-         Always use non-bio washing powder

-         Save rainwater as much as possible and economise water usage

-         Change to green electricity

-         Educate my family about the impacts of climate change

-         Keep positive

-         Improve insulation of our house

-         Reduce air travel by travelling by road and rail

-         Walk to my local food store

-         Use public transport where possible

-         Learn more about climate change

-         Try very hard to persuade my parish council to 'engage' to become carbon neutral

-         Do talks on climate change to schools and community groups

-         Use farmers markets more where possible

-         Feed garden birds and not use garden chemicals

-         Turn the T.V off of standby

-         Install water butt(s)

-         Keep talking to friends, family and colleagues about making changes

-         Take a group to visit the inspired science museum

-         Take part in my local group's awareness events in liaison with Climate X Change

-         Use ECOVER products rather than others with damaging additives

-         Report back to local sustainability group and consumer group

-         Not to buy out of season and imported food and goods

-         Try and involve local church and neighbourhood watch in climate change action

-         Encourage use of public transport to meetings via mileage allowance control and
          passenger bonus

-         Read and become more knowledgeable on climate change

-         Promote recycling at my grandson's Primary School

-         Stop flying

-         Turn off everything not in use

-         Spread the word!
