Loyal customer Veronica Jones performed the ribbon cutting ceremony to open the new-look Midcounties Co-operative store in Streetly, Sutton Coldfield.

Veronica has shopped at the premises in Thornhill Road for more than 20 years and is pictured with, from left, Midcounties colleagues Sue Shingler, Store Manager Raj Kooner and Danielle Evans.

Raj said: “As a co-operative we have close ties with the community and we thought it would be a nice idea to ask Veronica, as one of our loyal customers, to formally launch our refurbished store.”

The branch has been refreshed with new signage and a change of layout, and offers an extended range of freshly baked bread plus a greater range of chilled and fresh foods and hot food too.

Raj added: “We are always looking at how we can improve what we offer and we are proud to be an ethical retailer which is owned by its members who control and benefit from it.”

The food store is open from Monday to Sunday 7am to 10pm.
